Committee Reports

- Safety/Patrol - Paul Schlatter reported that he purchased a new lift w/canopy for use with the association

patrol boat. The old lift is for sale at $500. He stated that due to the increased weight of the new engine the

old lift would not handle that weight capacity. Mr. Schlatter purchased the lift and canopy and will retain it

when no longer used by the association.

Mr. Schlatter reminded the cottage owners that they need to be aware of the current boating laws pertaining

to jet skis and other motorized water craft. Indiana and Michigan DNR and Sheriffs departments will be

enforcing those laws. Joy Kent and Paul are both patrolling the lake to help us keep safe.

- Insurance - Steve Boomer- no news, however D & O insurance is in place as of June 1, 2009 and he is

continuing to look for broader/less expensive coverage.

- Weeds - Spraying for Milfoil was completed June 2, 2009 at the association expense. Bayview residents

(only) are working toward forming a taxing district for their area(MI) so that all “Bayview” residents will share

the expense of keeping their area free of undesirable in water weeds.

- Directory- A big “Thank you” to Marilyn and Steve Parrot for their hard work put into the assembly of our

lake directory. It is a very time consuming job and make even more so because of the ever changing cottage

owners information. Please advise them of any changes that need to be make in your information. A big

“Thank you” to all the advertisers who make the directory possible.

- Web Site - Updating is a continual thing and Dave Stang with the support of Kirsten Meyer, Nancy Stiefel

and Steve Parrot will continue to improve and update the web site.

Remember to check the web site for updated information at www.lake-george.org.

Thank you also to Steve Parrot for his diligent work in getting the bulk e-mail out to all those who have

provided their e-mail addresses. Many, many favorable comments have been received regarding this

capability to notify everyone with items of concern to all of us on Lake George in a very timely manner.

- Fish/Wildlife- Gary Zandstra reported that no fish survey would be completed this year. We will try again in

2010. Also, 2,500-3,000 walleye are stocked per year.

- By-Laws Committee - Joy Kent and her committee are in the process of updating the by-laws. The

proposed changes will be posted on the web site (www.lake-george.org) below the existing by-laws. It was

suggested that a special meeting will be announced prior to the end of August to vote on the proposed

changes.

Spirit of Lake George Award - Glen Bickel yielded to John Larimore. Mr. Larimore announced the 2009

“Spirit of Lake George” award as going to Jonathan Larimore for his behind the scene commitment to Lake

George Conservancy and the ICSA. Congratulations Jonathan!!

Unfinished Business

- Dam - issues ongoing. A lengthy discussion was held on the dam issues. It was decided that those

interested in participating on a committee concerning the dam will meet on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 9:00

AM in the Conservancy building.

- Fireworks- Thanks to Paul Schlatter and crew for arranging the pontoons for the fireworks. Melrose

Pyrotechnics from Fort Wayne will conclude their last year of a three year contract next year.

New Business

- Motion - Election of officers for 2010. Mary Schellenberger made the motion that the current officers

continue for the 2010 year. It was seconded and approved by a show of hands. Motion approved.

- Ethanol - Dave Stang brought up the issue of Ethanol being used in the gasoline. The marina at Clear

Lake and Casey’s Cove on Crooked Lake have gasoline available without ethanol added. It is

recommended that a stabilizer be used if using gasoline with ethanol in your marine engines as the ethanol

can cause excessive corrosion in the engine.

- Meeting adjourned - Dave Stang - 9:50 AM
